A mound is a sand dune formed by the wind, usually along the coast or in the desert dune forms when the wind hits the sand in a protected area behind an obstacle.The mounds grow as grains of sand pile up.

Every mound has a wind and slides side the mound is the side on which the wind blows and pushes the material up. The smooth surface of the mounds is just a windless side. The slip face is usually smoother than the airy dune side.

Dune collection is called dune band or dune field. A large dune field is called an erg. The Skeleton Coast Erg in Namibia extends 2-5 miles (1-3 miles) in length and cuts 20 miles (12.7miles) wide.

Dunes can also be built with strong currents underwater. The  Underwater dunes, called subaqueous dunes, are common in oceans, rivers, and canals.

Dunes can be very large geographical features or just small bumps. Many sand dunes are separated by readiness. 

Crescentic dunes are crescent-shaped, or the shape of a wide letter C. The broadside of the Crescent dune has a windy, sloping, round side on one side. Crescentic dunes are the fastest type of dune, and also the most common.

Straight dunes form straight or almost straight lines. Some of the linear mounds are shaped like a wandering snake, with regular curves. Line dunes grow when air pressure is almost equal to  both sides of the drum.

The star mounds have sloping slopes on three sides. Star mounds are growing when winds come in many different directions. The sand dunes of the Sahara Desert ergs are dunes of stars.

Dome dunes are a rare type of dune They are round and have no slides. The wind can blow cargo over the mound from either direction.

Matching dunes are similar to crescentic dunes. Their shape is almost the same, but the slide of the matching dune is on its inner side. Simulated dunes are also called explosions, because the winds blow in the middle of the mouse, leaving the rim out.

Life in the Sand Mountains

Few species can survive in the changing world of sand dunes there is very little soil in the sand dune, so the plants are often unable to concentrate. Usually, sand dunes are found near the sea, so the plants have to tolerate salty conditions some deep-rooted grasses, such as beachgrass, are familiar with the nature of the dune sand.

Animals cannot shelter from unstable sand dunes and must seek freshwater. Nevertheless, a few species thrive  In the Sahara Desert, sandfish live beneath dunes Sandfish is by no means a fish, but a species of lizard that can swim with its legs and swim in smooth sand.

Large animals can find their way through life on sand dunes, too. Rig-e Jenn is a large, desolate dune belt in the Irans Dasht-e Kavir desert. Rig-e Jenn is home to rare species such as the yuz, or Asiatic cheetah, and the onager, a relative of the horse.

 There are five major types of dune type: crescentic, linear, star, dome, and parabolic. An inventory of global deserts has been produced using Landsat satellites and space and aerial photography. It defines five main mounds: crescent, linear, star, dome and parabola.

The most common form of rock on Earth and Mars is the crescent. Crescent shapes are usually wider than they are in length. The slip face is at the edge of the cliff. These dunes are formed under the direction of wind blowing from one direction and are also called Parsan or Cross Dunes. Some types of crescent dunes move faster on the desert surface than other types of dunes. Between 1954 and 1959 a group of hills in China’s Ningxia province moved more than 100 meters in a year; Similar rates were recorded in the Western Desert of Egypt. The largest crescent-shaped mound on Earth, with an average width of more than 3 km, is located in the Taklimagan Desert in China.

They can be over 160 kilometers long. Sand lines may form individual peaks, but they usually form groups of parallel ridges separated by miles of sand, gravel or rock. Several linear mounds join together to form eun-shaped compounds. There are many forms of aviation rules records. The long axes of these dunes are pulled as a result of the movement of the sand.

The U-shaped mounds are equipped with arms extended by a convex nose, which are diffuse dunes. These mountain ranges are sometimes called U-shaped, trumpet or harpin hills, and they are well known in coastal deserts. Unlike Crescent Dunes, their peaks are rain-soaked longer sides of parabolic dunes that follow more of the lead as they are fixed by vegetation, while most of the sand in the mound moves forward.  The oldest known parabolic rock has a 12 km long posterior arm.

All these rock types can occur in three forms: simple, combined and complex. Simple dunes are basic shapes with a minimum number of slipfaces that define the geometric type. Compound hills are large dunes in which smaller sands have a similar slipface type and orientation, and complex dunes are a combination of two or more dunes. . Crescent Hill is the most common rock complex with a star rock at its top. Simple dunes represent a wind regime that has not changed in intensity or direction since the formation of the dune, while mixed and complex mountains claim that the wind intensity and direction have changed.

Sand dunes are found everywhere: in deserts, on beaches, and even on some ruined and abandoned farmlands in parts of northwestern India and the southwestern US the hill is a formed hill. Through the air, typically on a beach or in a desert Sand dunes are formed when the wind blows sand into a sheltered area behind an obstacle.
