In this blog, we have described the percent of the Earth area occupied by land, so let’s start with a new topic.

In the calculative measures, approxmatically about 29% of the Earth’s surface is occupied by land. Hence the remaining about 71% of the Earth is covered by water, mainly in the form of oceans, seas, and other water bodies; it is important to note that according to this percentage can vary slightly depending on how the land and water are defined and measured.

How Much Percent of Earth Area is Occupied By Land in Total Area?

How Much Percent of Earth Area is Occupied By Land?

The Earth has a total surface area of approximately 510.1 million square kilometres (196.9 million square miles). This area is aromatically about 148.9 million square kilometres (57.5 million square miles) covered by land. ‘

In the calculation of the percentage of the Earth’s surface area that is occupied by land so we can divide the land by the area wise in total surface area and multiply by 100:

(Land area/ total surface area) x 100

(148.9 million square kilometres / 510.1 million square kilometres)x 100 = 29.16%

Therefore in the way of the calculative term, approxmatically 29.16% of the Earth’s surface area is occupied by the land.

The Total Number of percent of The Earth is Occupied By Land By The Mass

How Much Percent of Earth Area is Occupied By Land?

The Descriptive term is that it’s impossible to calculate the percentage of the Earth by the mass occupied by the land; we need to consider that the Earth is composed of various layers, including the crust, mantle, and core. The crust is the outermost layer containing the continents and ocean basins.

The Earth’s total mass is estimated to be approxmatically 5.97 x 10 ^24 kilograms (5.97 trillion kilograms). The mass of the Earth’s crust is much smaller in comparison, estimated to be about 2.7x 10 ^22 (27 trillion kilograms)

So to calculate the percentage of the Earth’s mass that is occupied by the land, we can divide the mass of the Earth’s crust by the total mass of the Earth and multiply by 100:

The formula is that (mass of Earth’s crust/ total mass of Earth) x 100

(2.7 x 10^22 kg / 5.97 x 10^24 kg) x 100 = 0.45%

Therefore, approxmatically 0.45% of the Earth’s total mass is occupied by the land of its crust. It’s important to note that this percentage can vary depending on how the Earth’s layers are defined and measured This is an actual percent of area is occupied by land
